The number of kicksharing users grows with each season. Developing infrastructure for micromobility has become one of the key priorities for modern cities. Bike lanes are no longer just a convenience — they are essential components of a safe street environment. Research shows that their implementation reduces accident rates by 40%.
Urban kicksharing operators have proposed an initiative to improve conditions for micromobility transport.
In response to this request, our team, together with the Moscow Traffic Control Center, identified six streets where temporary infrastructure could be created without negatively impacting car traffic: Tsvetnoy Boulevard, Dobrolyubova Street, 10th Anniversary of October Street, Yefremova Street, Donskaya Street, and Konny Lane.
We have developed design solutions for each of these locations.
Moscow operators of micromobility services came up with an initiative to improve the infrastructure for scooters. Together with the Moscow City Road Traffic Managment Centre, 6 streets were selected where it was possible to create an additional lane for micro mobility facilities within the existing dimensions without worsening motor vehicle traffic.
These temporary cycle lanes are realised in markings, which allows for extreme cost reduction and speed of implementation.
We developed 6 projects with temporary bike lane infrastructure, allowing scooter users to enjoy summer Moscow while safely travelling in a dedicated lane.
