Integration of Moscow Central Circle Stations into the Urban Infrastructure

About the Project

The Moscow Central Circle (MCC) is a key project in the development of the capital's transport system. In 2016, modern trains were introduced along the former Moscow Ring Railway route and integrated into the city's transport network.

The MCC has significantly improved access to residential, business and industrial areas, while also strengthening the connectivity of Moscow's high-speed rail network. However, due to the existing urban infrastructure, it was initially not possible to organise convenient transfers at all stations.

What We Did

We have developed concepts for integrating nine MCC stations into the transport system and urban environment of the surrounding areas.

  • Identified the main scenarios for using the planned areas.

  • Analysed transport, pedestrian, and passenger flows.

  • Ensured convenient pedestrian connections between MCC stations, metro stations and ground public transport stops.

  • Improved safety for pedestrians and transport.

  • Optimised the routes of ground public transport.

  • Organised comfortable waiting areas.

  • Developed concepts for the improvement of streets and public spaces, taking into account the local identity of the areas.
